Touching on and touching off
If you are using myki money, you always need to touch on and touch off to get the lowest myki fare.
If you do not touch off, the system doesn’t know where you have travelled and you will be charged a default fare that may be more than you should have paid for your trip.
If you are travelling with a myki pass you will not be charged a default fare as long as you touch on in the zone/s for which your myki pass is valid. Free travel pass holders are not charged if they forget to touch off.
