Metlink Education believes it is vital the future users of public transport experience using the system properly and safely. Metlink Education provides a range of resources aimed to help students learn how the public transport system works, and how to use it responsibly and safely.

What resources are available?

Two education resources are currently available: The resources look to:

• cover safety issues
• increase students’ awareness and understanding of public transport
• make sure students understand their responsibilities when travelling
• increase their confidence in using the public transport system

Both resources have teacher’s guides and feature a range of classroom-based activities and support materials.

Travel On

Travel On is a public transport education program that helps Victorian primary school teachers educate students about safe and appropriate use of public transport services and facilities
The three components of Travel On allow children to link experiences in the classroom with real-life practice, supported by encouragement from families and carers:

The secondary school resource get on board! is designed for teachers to help students become more familiar with how the public transport system works and their responsibilities in sharing the ride with others.
