After midnight buses, NightRider network map

NightRider is a bus service that provides a safe, easy and inexpensive way to travel after midnight on weekends.

The buses run every 30 minutes between the city (City Square, on Swanston Street between Collins and Flinders streets) and Melbourne's outer suburbs between 1.30am – 4.30am on Saturdays and 1.30am – 5.30am on Sundays, with additional services on some routes.

NightRider stops along routes to Bayswater, Belgrave, Craigieburn, Cranbourne, Croydon, Dandenong, Doncaster, Eltham, Epping, Frankston, Healesville, Lilydale, Melton, Mornington, Rosebud, St Albans, Sunbury and Werribee.

Fast facts: NightRider

  • All you need is a valid Metcard or myki to jump on board.
  • You can request to alight anywhere along NightRider routes, not just designated stops, provided it’s safe for the bus to stop. Simply let the driver know where you’d like to hop off.
  • Using the on-board phone it’s free to call a taxi to pick you up at your bus stop or for $1 you can use the phone to arrange for someone to pick you up.
  • NightRider routes 942 (City – St Albans – Melton – Sunbury), 944 (City – Werribee), 956 (City – Epping), 958 (City – Eltham) and 970 (City – Frankston – Mornington – Rosebud) also stop at Crown Casino on Clarendon Street.
