Southern Cross Station is the arrival and departure point for metropolitan and regional train, tram and bus services.

The Premium Station is located on Spencer Street in Melbourne's central business district (CBD), between Collins and La Trobe streets.

Etihad Stadium, New Quay Docklands and Melbourne's vibrant CBD are just a short stroll from the station.

 Airport bus services

Several airport bus services travel between Southern Cross Station and Melbourne and Avalon airports.

Airport bus tickets can be purchased from the Southern Cross Coach Terminal for SkyBus, Avalon airport shuttle, FireFly and Greyhound.

SkyBus Metcards can also be purchased from the MetShop and online.

SkyBus 

SkyBus runs between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne's city centre (including Southern Cross Station), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The service runs every 10 minutes and takes 20 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre.

Avalon Airport Transfers 

Avalon Airport Transfers runs services between Avalon Airport and the Melbourne central business district.

The service operates on a set timetable to meet all Jetstar flights, seven days a week. Travel time from the airport to Southern Cross Station is around 50 minutes.

 Lockers

Lockers are available in the following locations: 

• the Southern Cross Coach Terminal
• next to the V/Line Luggage area, below the Bourke Street Bridge
• adjacent to Platform 7a.

The fee for locker hire starts at $8 all day. No reservations are required.

 Travellers Aid Australia

Travellers Aid Australia centres offer support services and transport information for passengers, particularly those with special needs.       

Travellers Aid Australia at Southern Cross Station provides the following services:

• a rest area and lounge
• free buggy transport through Southern Cross Station for the elderly and people with a disability
• public transport information.

  myki Discovery Centre

The myki Discovery Centre is located on the ground level of Southern Cross Station, near the entrance of Spencer and Little Collins streets.

Services include:

• Buy full fare, concession, senior and child myki cards (including $15 full fare and $10 concession starter packs)
• on the spot replacement for defective myki cards
• exchange your myki full fare to concession or vice versa
• register and order your myki online
• top up your myki using a myki machine
• check your myki status, including the balance, using a myki machine
• learn how to use myki by using demonstration equipment
• call the myki call centre using a direct hotline
• obtain myki customer brochures 
• obtain and lodge myki forms
• get advice and information from the myki Community Relations Team and Metro staff.

 Central Pass Office

The Central Pass Office issues many of Victoria’s free travel passes and the War Widow / War Veteran Concession card.

The Southern Cross Station Information Centre provides face-to-face public transport and visitor information for Melbourne and Victoria.

V/Line main booking office

V/Line’s main booking office at Southern Cross Station is located on the ground floor concourse near the entrance at Collins Street.  

At the V/Line booking office, passengers can:

• buy V/Line tickets
• reserve seats on V/Line trains and coaches
• collect pre-purchased V/Line tickets
• request a ticket refund (conditions apply).

  Monday – Thursday: 5.30am – 10.15pm
  Friday: 5.30am – 12.05am
  Saturday: 6.15am – 12 midnight
  Sunday: 7.15am – 10.15pm

 Other facilities

The station also provides:

 Passenger information displays

Passenger Information Displays (PIDs) are located around Southern Cross Station.

Country/regional departures and arrivals are shown in red and metropolitan services are shown in blue.

Check the PID when you arrive at the station to see which platform your train is leaving from.

V/Line coaches, airport buses and other regional/interstate coaches leave from the Southern Cross Coach Terminal.

It is located next to the train station and can be accessed from Spencer Street (opposite Little Bourke Street) or from within the train station (see map below).
