Lost Property

If you have forgotten or misplaced personal belongings on a train, tram or bus service, you should immediately contact the operator for assistance.

Metropolitan trains

Metro operates Melbourne's train network.

The Metro lost property office is located at Flinders Street Station on Flinders Street opposite Degraves Street. It is open on weekdays from 8am until 5pm, excluding public holidays. Call 9610 7512 to enquire about lost items.

If you find lost items on board a train or at a station, please hand them in at a staffed railway station or to an Authorised Officer.

Metropolitan trams

Yarra Trams operates Melbourne's tram network. If you have lost or found something while onboard a tram please call 1800 800 166 between 6.00am and 10.00pm.

It's helpful if you can tell the customer service representative the route you were travelling on, the time you were travelling and even the tram number. This will assist in the retrieval of items.

Lost property is held at the tram depots for three months.

Metropolitan buses

Items found on board a bus are returned to the bus depot. Please contact the operator of your local bus service directly to organise pick-up of any lost items.
Phone numbers are available from the timetable pages or by clicking the link to the bus operator's web site.
