 Metro: real-time information services

Metro provides real-time travel updates direct to your mobile phone.  This free service lets you know when metropolitan train services have been disrupted, cancelled or delayed by more than fifteen minutes, all via text message to your mobile phone. The service operates Monday to Friday, 6am to 8pm.To register for this and other information services, visit the 'Platform 1' section of Metro's website at metrotrains.com.au (link opens in a new window)

Connex subscribers were sent instructions to subscribe to Metro real-time information services. If you did not respond, you will need to subscribe with Metro at metrotrains.com.au (link opens in a new window)

 Metro SMS Timetables

Metro SMS Timetable service offers 24-hour access to specific up-to-date train timetables via text message.

You can find out exactly what time a train is coming, no matter where you are or where you're going. The service is available for all 15 suburban train lines.

Simply text your departure station and arrival station to 199 METRO (19963876) (SMS cost $0.55 including GST). You'll then get a return message listing the relevant next four train departure and arrival times for that trip.  You'll also have the option to specify a time and a date if you are travelling at a later time.

Metro SMS Timetables operate across the whole train network, so if a journey requires you to change trains, not only will receive the departure and arrival times but also the station and departure times for the connecting trains.

Up-to-the-minute information is available Monday to Friday 6am-8pm (including recently cancelled trains and extra services information). Normal scheduled timetable information is available all other times.

So now there's no more stressing over making it to the station on time and no more estimated time of arrival.

 tramTRACKER®

tramTRACKER® from Yarra Trams uses the latest real-time technology to determine the position of every tram on the network.

The predictions are real-time, not scheduled information, so with tramTRACKER® you will know when to be at your stop.

tramTRACKER® is easy to use and is accessible via phone (IVR call cost $0.25/higher for STD/Mobiles), SMS (SMS cost $0.55) and free online at yarratrams.com.au

Real-time tram arrival information is also free with tramTRACKER® for iPhone (download from the iPhone App Store), widgets/gadgets for your computer desktop and via tramtracker.com for internet-capable mobile devices.

Before using tramTRACKER® by phone or SMS, you will need the Tracker Stop ID for your tram stop.  Each tram stop has a green sticker with its own four-digit Tracker Stop ID.

Your Tracker Stop ID can also be found by clicking on the routes listed below, online via the green tramTRACKER® panel at yarratrams.com.au, on the tramTRACKER® iPhone App, desktop gadgets or widgets, on the mobile internet version at tramtracker.com or by calling 131 638.

By voice

You can use either your landline phone or your mobile. Call 1300 MY TRAM, that's 1300 69 8726 (IVR call cost $0.25/higher for STD/Mobiles) then follow the prompts. Real-time tram arrival information will be available for the next three trams at your stop.

By SMS

For the next three trams at your stop, SMS your Tracker Stop ID to 199YARRA (SMS cost $0.55).
