1. What is the 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard?
The 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard is a single ticket programmed with five days of travel. These Metcards can only be used by one person at a time.
2. Is this a new Metcard?
The 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard was introduced in April this year and was available at Premium Station ticket windows. It is now available for purchase online. From mid-September, it will be available from Metcard retail agents, the MetShop and by calling the Metcard Helpline on 1800 652 313.
3. How much does the 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard cost?
The 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard costs $16.50 ($3.30 per day) and can be used for unlimited travel on trains, trams and buses in Zones 1 and 2 over five separate days.
4. Who is eligible to use the 5 x Seniors Daily?
The 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard can only be used by Victorian Seniors Card holders.
5. As a senior, is this the cheapest ticket for me?
Victorian seniors can purchase regular concession tickets, including 2 hour, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, 10 x 2 hour and 5 x Daily Metcards. In some cases these are cheaper than seniors tickets.
6. Can interstate seniors travel with a 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard?
Interstate seniors are not eligible for concession fares in Victoria. However, Federal Government funding has been allocated for this, and it is expected that this issue will be resolved during 2008.
7. Why isn’t there a saving for purchasing seniors tickets in bulk?
The Seniors Daily Metcards is already heavily discounted. The Seniors Daily Metcard costs just one third of the cost of a Zone 1 + 2 Daily Metcard. The main benefit of the 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard is the convenience of having five days of travel on the one ticket.
8. What if the 5 x Seniors Daily becomes defective?
If the ticket becomes defective, please take it to the customer service centre of a Premium Station. Staff will issue individual Seniors Daily tickets for unused trips. In some circumstances, tickets might need to be mailed in for a refund. Station staff will be able to provide advice on this and a prepaid envelope.
9. Can I share the 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard with another person?
Only one person may travel on a 5 x Seniors Daily Metcard each day. However, you can transfer your Metcard to another person to use on another day.
10. What ID do I need to show to be able to buy a seniors ticket?
People travelling on a seniors ticket need to carry a valid Victorian Seniors Card.
