Extra public transport services for the NRL State of Origin match

Fans attending tonight’s NRL State of Origin II game at the MCG are reminded to plan ahead and be ready for travel.
Fans are being encouraged to plan their journey, top up their myki in advance and make sure they have a positive balance for the trip home.
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) Director of Contract and Performance Jeroen Weimar said additional services will get people to and from the match at the MCG.
“More than 90,000 people are expected to attend the first State of Origin game at the MCG in nearly 20 years this evening,” Mr Weimar said.
“We know many of these people will use public transport to get to the game, and we’ve worked with the operators to put on additional metropolitan train and tram services, and regional V/Line services.
“Public transport takes the hassle out of getting to the venue and driving around looking for a car park.”
Extra metropolitan train services will operate on most lines, 14 additional services will operate on Swan Street and Wellington Parade on tram routes 70 and 75, while additional seating and services will operate to Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Seymour and Traralgon.
Mr Weimar urged fans to top up before they travel and plan their journey home.
“To save the hassle when leaving the game customers are should top up and make sure they have a positive balance for the trip home,” Mr Weimar said.
“Customers should also visit ptv.vic.gov.au or call 1800 800 007 to find out what additional services are operating to get them home.”
