Temporary service alterations on Route 3a, 16 and 67 trams: Saturday 12 September - Sunday, 13 September 2015

Due to track renewal and separate third party works on Fitzroy Street in St Kilda, Route 3a, 16 and 67 trams will be affected by service alterations from the first service on Saturday 12 September, to the last service on Sunday, 13 September 2015.

Service changes:

All affected trams will operate with an 'a' alongside their route number to reflect the changes.

Route 3a will operate along Route 3, diverting from St Kilda Junction via Dandenong Road and Hawthorn Road.

Route 16a will operate in two sections between:

  • Melbourne University and St Kilda Junction
  • Kew and St Kilda Station/Fitzroy Street on Route 96

Buses will replace trams, operating express between Union Street/St Kilda Road and Canterbury Road/Fitzroy Street.

Route 67a will operate between Melbourne University and Union Street on St Kilda Road. Buses will replace trams between Union Street/St Kilda Road and Carnegie.

The following tram stop changes will apply:

  • Stop 131: St Kilda Road/Fitzroy Street will be closed in both directions. Customers are advised to use the temporary bus stop or trams from/near St Kilda Station on Route 96.
  • Stop 132: Princes Street/Fitzroy Street will be closed in both directions. Customers are advised to use the temporary bus stop or trams from/near St Kilda Station on Route 96.
  • Stop 31: Barkly Street/St Kilda Road will be closed (towards Carnegie only). Customers are advised to use the temporary bus stop, departing from the footpath. 
  • Stops 32 - 35: Alma Road/ St Kilda Road to Carlisle Street/St Kilda Road will be closed in both directions. Customers are advised to use the temporary bus stops, departing from the footpath. 
  • Stop 68: Carnegie terminus will be closed in both directions. Customers are advised to use the temporary bus stop approximately 100m / 1 minute walk away.

During the work, trams and replacement buses will operate to the normal frequency; however, they may not arrive at the scheduled time. Please ensure that you allow extra time for your journey.

St Kilda customers may wish to consider Route 12 or 96 trams.

Please note: In accordance with the Victorian Fares & Ticketing Manual 2015, bicycles, surfboards and dogs are not permitted to travel on buses. An exception exists for guide dogs, hearing guide dogs, guide dogs in training, animals identified by an Assistance Animal Pass and small animals if they are suitably contained.
