Rail Safety Week 2015
Added: 10 August 2015
2015 marks 10 years of Rail Safety Week, running from Monday 10 August to Sunday 16 August across Australia and New Zealand.
This year's theme is: "Rail Safety: It's everyone's responsibility"
Rail Safety Week is a joint initiative between the Australasian Railway Association and the TrackSAFE Foundation, designed to improve education and awareness around railway level crossing and track safety.
PTV is highlighting the dangers crossing level crossings against warning signals with the 'Don't push your X-ing luck' campaign. For more about the campaign see the Railway crossing safety awareness page.
Victorian transport operators are also participating in Rail Safety Week with a number of activities out on the network:
- Metro Trains' ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ characters are reminding customers to “Be safe around trains”, focusing on a different safety topic each day, along with special competitions and school visits.
- V/Line is promoting the ‘Don’t Push Your X-ing Luck’ campaign across the regional network and having staff raising awareness of level crossing and station safety.
