The new car park, pedestrian overpass and bus interchange at Warragul station is now open.
Construction is continuing on the new rail underpass east of the station to connect Alfred Street with Queen Street and Normanby Place. The project will be completed in 2015.
VicRoads and construction partner Thiess are delivering the project on behalf of PTV.
Project description
The $26.04 million Warragul Rail Precinct Upgrade will provide a new rail underpass, new car park and bus interchange at Warragul Station.
The project is funded by the Victorian and Commonwealth governments, with the State investing $22.69 million and the Commonwealth providing $3.35 million.
The project will deliver:
- A new car park with 200 new spaces
- A new bus interchange
- A new pedestrian overpass over the rail line
- Upgraded drop off and pick up area at the entrance to the station
- A new rail underpass, east of the station, to connect Alfred Street with Queen Street and Normanby Place
- A shared user path on the west side of the new underpass
- A new signalised intersection at Queen Street and Normanby Place
- New traffic signals at the intersection of Alfred Street and Howitt Street
- A relocated and refurbished historic goods shed.
In addition, station platforms have been resurfaced and raised tactiles installed to meet the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport.
A new secure bicycle cage is now open in the car park near the entrance to the station, providing 26 parking spaces for bicycles. To register for a swipe card to use the bicycle cage, visit Bicycle Network Victoria.
