Project description
The Mooroolbark Community Hub Project is part of the Train Stations as Creative Community Hubs program. The project has upgraded the safety, accessibility and comfort of Mooroolbark Station and transformed it into a vibrant and pleasant space for both commuters and the local community to enjoy.
The Mooroolbark Community Hub Project included:
- additional CCTV cameras and improved lighting
- upgrades to ramps, footpaths, signage and the car park (including new accessible parking spaces and drop off facilities)
- a new café and canopy over the station entrance
- upgraded and improved landscaping in the station forecourt area.
The project was developed with input from local residents, business owners, community groups and Yarra Ranges Council.
These works followed on from the Mooroolbark Station car park upgrade completed in 2013. The northern side station car park was resurfaced with asphalt and 64 new car parking spaces added, taking the total number of parking spaces to 440.
Yarra Ranges Council contributed $300,000 to the Mooroolbark Community Hub project and car park upgrade.
The project has been delivered by Metro Trains Melbourne on behalf of Public Transport Victoria.
