What's happening?

Caroline Springs Station is needed to improve the public transport options available to Melbourne's growing western region. The station will give current and future residents improved access to jobs, study and other important services.

Construction started in early August and the station will open in 2016.

Project description

Caroline Springs station will be built on the Ballarat line, between the existing Deer Park and Rockbank stations.

The station is being delivered as part of the $220 million New Stations in Growth Areas project, which has seen new stations constructed at Williams Landing, Cardinia Road and Lynbrook.

The station will feature:

  • a single-sided platform with shelter and seating
  • bus bays and a taxi rank
  • 350 car parking spaces
  • drop-off zones
  • closed circuit camera security surveillance (CCTV)
  • pedestrian and bicycle access, with a secure bike cage
  • facilities for Protective Services Officers.

Station location

Caroline Springs station will be located on Christies Road, just outside of the Caroline Springs town centre.

Project benefits

Caroline Springs Station will give the residents of Burnside, Caroline Springs, Plumpton and other surrounding suburbs access to a train station with modern, safe and comfortable features. The station is estimated to be used by 1500 commuters per day.

Journey Information

The station will be serviced by V/Line and will stop at Deer Park, Ardeer, Sunshine and Footscray before making its final stop at Southern Cross Station. Commuters will then have access to a variety of interconnecting public transport options at Southern Cross Station.

The station is located in a Zone 2 area, and commuters will be able to use their myki cards to travel.

The timetable will be available in 2016.
