Latest news

Over the coming months, the project team will be working at Richmond Station and will carry out some construction activities at night.

These works will include preparing the platforms for the shelter footings and new shelters will be installed on platforms 7 to 10.

There will be low to medium construction noise at times due to the use of heavy machinery but we don’t anticipate these works will be disruptive to local residents or customers.

Please note, some of these works need to be carried out at night while trains are not running to ensure the safety of our workers and customers.

Project description

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) is improving shelter for customers at Richmond Station by installing extra canopies (shelters) along the platforms and ramps.

Project benefits

Richmond Station is a major interchange hub on the rail network and provides access to Melbourne’s busy sports and entertainment precinct.

As part of the on-going improvements being made to this important station, PTV is providing more shelter from the rain and sun for customers, with additional shelters to be installed on all platforms and ramps.

Providing more shelter at Richmond Station will improve safety and amenity at the station, particularly in times of wet weather.

More shelter means customers will be able to spread along the platforms while waiting for a train, reducing crowding in sections of the platforms, and exit the station while remaining under cover.
