Project description

The expansion of the Donnybrook Station car park has been delivered as part of the Regional SAMI Program to improve access, amenity, car parking and transport connections at a number of regional railway stations.

The car park expansion included the addition of a new car parking area in previously vacant VicTrack land, bringing the total number of spaces at the station to 112.  The original gravel car park was also formalised with asphalt pavement, line markings, lighting and bike racks to improve overall station precinct.

The car park entrance point was relocated to Springs Road in order to reduce traffic congestion on Donnybrook Road.

South Morang Car Park Expansion

Project description

South Morang Station will receive a boost to car parking numbers through the construction of a temporary car park. The aim of the temporary car park is to alleviate the strain on the existing 450 space car park, while a long-term solution is sought.

Planning works have commenced on the car park expansion project which will include the construction of an additional 450-500 car parking spaces for rail customers.

The car park will consist of a compressed crushed rock surface and will feature lighting.

Project update

PTV have lodged a planning permit with Council and subject to approval, the car park will be built at the current location where commuters are parking to minimise walking distances.  PTV are negotiating a lease with the private owner of this land.

Works will commence soon after the Council’s approval of the planning permit.

Timeframe

Works are expected to commence in mid-2015, with completion anticipated for late 2015.
